This app will help you get around these problems. The app creates a new field to store a best-before date directly on the product and can display the date on the product detail page.

Using an automated process, all products with an expired best-before date can be automatically deactivated by the system. You also have the option of setting up an email reminder that will inform you in advance that the best before date will soon be reached.

This means you can run discount campaigns for these items (e.g. sales at retail outlets, etc.) in order to sell the items on time and without any loss for you. A win-win situation for you and your customers.
